Logical Reliability in Digital Systems

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The increasing complexity of digital infrastructures has created new challenges that extend beyond traditional measures of system reliability. While hardware and software reliability have long been established as core engineering objectives, the logical consistency and interpretive integrity of digital systems have become equally vital in the age of automation and artificial intelligence (AI). This paper introduces the concept of logical reliability, a multidimensional property that ensures the coherence, adaptability, and truth-preserving behaviour of systems operating under uncertainty. The study analyses how deterministic architectures fail when confronted with ambiguous, contradictory, or incomplete data, and explores adaptive logic mechanisms capable of sustaining internal consistency. Drawing upon systems engineering, epistemic logic, and cognitive science, this paper argues that logical reliability is an emerging foundation for designing digital systems that remain robust not only in performance, but also in reasoning. The discussion concludes with a set of design principles and theoretical implications for future digital infrastructure.
