Emerging delivery practices

Abstract: The continued growth of e-commerce and online orders has prompted the exploration of potential alternatives to traditional last-mile and middle-mile delivery practices. Each alternative must be carefully evaluated to understand if and when it is effective in terms of lower cost and/or better customer service. This thesis explores the benefits of two alternatives for delivery: crowdshipping for last mile delivery and underground freight transportation for the last and middle mile of delivery.
