To Study the Awareness level of Entrepreneurs on Government Initiatives on Promoting Entrepreneurship in Karnataka with special reference to Tumkur District.

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This research explores the level of awareness among entrepreneurs in Karnataka, specifically in Tumkur District, regarding government initiatives aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship. It's widely recognized that entrepreneurship is crucial for economic development and job creation. To facilitate this, both Central and State governments have introduced various programs—such as Startup India, Stand-up India, and the Karnataka Startup Policy—to foster a supportive ecosystem. Nevertheless, there often appears to be a gap between the policies designed and their actual execution, which can result in resources not being fully leveraged. The study collected primary data from 110 entrepreneurs to assess their understanding of significant initiatives like KSFC Loans, KITVEN Funds, ELEVATE, and UNNATI, among others. The findings indicate a high level of awareness, particularly concerning direct financial assistance programs such as KSFC Loans (with 72.72% of participants being very aware) and KITVEN Funds (70.90% very aware). National programs like Startup India and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana also garnered considerable recognition. The respondents predominantly consist of males who are well-educated and engaged in trading or consultancy. In summary, the research concludes that the government's outreach efforts in Tumkur have effectively reached entrepreneurs, with only a small number indicating a lack of awareness. This heightened awareness creates a favorable atmosphere for entrepreneurial development and suggests that the advantages of these policies are being experienced at the grassroots level. The study recommends ongoing targeted outreach and further investigation into utilization rates and regional disparities to enhance effectiveness.
