Abstract: This article presents a dual-focused study conducted during a one-month internship at a knit garment manufacturing unit in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, aimed at enhancing productivity through the control of absenteeism and improvement of line efficiency. The research explores how labor-related challenges such as high absenteeism and low efficiency affect production continuity, cost per minute (CPM), and delivery timelines in labor-intensive garment production settings. Two customized Production Management System (PMS) tools were developed under industrial engineering techniques, one for Absenteeism Management and the other for Line Efficiency Monitoring. Both tools were implemented in the factory, leading to quantifiable improvements in productivity metrics. The paper highlights the design process, challenges faced, implementation strategies, and the resulting impact on factory performance.
