Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to examine the influence of individual psychological characteristics on the competitive performance of female taekwondo athletes. Research methods: analysis of scientific research literature, testing. Research results and conclusions. The study revealed that the competitive performance of female taekwondo athletes is influenced by a number of factors, including pronounced personality traits, motivation, and self-esteem. The current motivational state directly affects the effectiveness of the athletes' performance in key competitions. However, a correlation analysis of motivational state and results at the St. Petersburg Championship indicated that the relationship between these two indicators is weak. Overall self-esteem also impacts the competitive performance of female taekwondo athletes, but to a lesser extent. When examining personality trait accentuations among the athletes, it was found that the most common accentuation among highly qualified female taekwondo practitioners is hyperthymia, while other types of accentuations are expressed to a lesser degree.
