Pesticides are not just killing insects— they're killing economies

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Fruits symbolize health, yet residue monitoring repeatedly detects agrochemicals on retail produce—even after washing and peeling. Research links certain pesticide exposures with endocrine, reproductive, immune, oncological, neurological, and transgenerational effects, while chemical-centric control delivers diminishing returns due to resistance and ecosystem disruption. This article outlines a different path: BEETLESS—precision, biology-first crop protection that pairs continuous monitoring with AI modeling and human-safe, localized interventions. We argue for a shift from blanket spraying toward targeted, measurable suppression that safeguards yields, pollinators, and public health.
