She Almost Bore Her Brother: How Genetics Vindicates an Ancient Arabic Saying
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article presents a groundbreaking genetic theory that challenges the classical model of equal inheritance from both parents. It argues that maternal and paternal genetic contributions are fundamentally different. Women, through eggs produced early and protected from change, act as faithful custodians of ancestral DNA, creating a strong and reliable genetic link between their sons and maternal uncles. In contrast, men, through sperm that constantly update their genes for adaptation, introduce a "constructive betrayal" of the original paternal lineage, leading to a weaker and more variable genetic link between fathers and sons, and between paternal aunts and their nephews. The theory provides a scientific basis for the ancient Arabic saying, "She almost gave birth to her brother," demonstrating that genetics vindicates the profound and reliable bond between a man and his sister's son.
