Homeopathy for Elephantiasis and Filarial Complications
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Lymphatic filariasis, a mosquito-borne parasitic disease caused mainly by Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi, is a leading cause of chronic disability in tropical regions. Conventional pharmacotherapy eliminates microfilariae but rarely reverses the chronic lymphatic obstruction and tissue fibrosis responsible for elephantiasis. This article examines filariasis through anatomical, physiological, and pathological perspectives and interprets its course in the light of homeopathic philosophy. It outlines a systematic method of case-taking, miasmatic assessment, remedy selection, and potency management. Furthermore, it presents a practical framework for community-level homeopathic interventions that integrate hygiene education and constitutional treatment to reduce morbidity in endemic areas.
