Asha Harmonic Scheduling: A Proof-of-Concept Simulation of Energy Smoothing Through Distributed Phase Offsets
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This paper presents a proof-of-concept (PoC) simulation of Asha Harmonic Scheduling, a deterministic timing framework designed to reduce instantaneous power and thermal variance in parallel computing systems through distributed phase offsets. The simulation compares three timing regimes—Synchronous Execution, Harmonic Segmentation, and Harmonic + π-Seam Offset—across 2,048 discrete ticks with 16 concurrent workers. Results show that applying harmonic segmentation with the π-Seam offset reduced load variance by more than 94 % and eliminated latency spikes, while preserving total throughput. Unlike stochastic or randomized mitigation techniques, Asha Harmonic Scheduling achieves stability through geometric phase distribution: timing events are deliberately offset by harmonic intervals (22.5°) plus a non-commensurate bias (+0.11° / 16), ensuring that peak concurrency never reconverges. This method functions as a software-level “energy smoother,” requiring no hardware modifications. These results provide quantitative support for the Asha Logic framework, first introduced in Asha Logic, Chronos, and Volt, and demonstrate a pathway toward energy-efficient scheduling architectures applicable from microchip synchronization to distributed AI computation and grid control systems.
