Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: UNESCO AI4IA Conference 2025: This presentation, delivered at the UNESCO AI for Information Accessibility (AI4IA) Conference 2025, explores how the rise of cognitive twins, AI systems that replicate human thought and decision processes, challenges traditional notions of identity, agency, and digital ethics. In The Mirror That Thinks: Cognitive Security in the Age of Digital Cognitive Twins, Krishna Chaitanya Sunkara (FRSA, IEEE Senior Member) discusses the urgent need for cognitive security, proposing global guardrails to ensure that AI reflects human values without erasing human autonomy. The talk emphasizes digital literacy as a fundamental right and civic skill for the 21st century, comparable in importance to reading and writing. Delivered under the UNESCO IFAP Working Group on Information Accessibility, this invited presentation contributes to the global dialogue on AI governance, responsible innovation, and ethical design. Tagline: As technology begins to reflect our thoughts, digital literacy becomes the key to keeping information open, safe, and human-centered.
