Taguchi Technique and Response Surface Methodology in the Design of Experiment

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The text provides an overview of experimental design, emphasizing its importance in scientific research for investigating cause-and-effect relationships. It highlights the need for meticulous planning in data collection and analysis to enhance the reliability and efficiency of findings. The Taguchi method is recognized as a key statistical tool for optimizing processes and products, utilizing orthogonal arrays to effectively manipulate multiple variables. By focusing on signal-to-noise ratios, it helps identify factors influencing outcomes while minimizing variability. The method is praised for its cost-effectiveness and ability to produce high-quality results with fewer experimental runs compared to traditional methods, making it widely applicable in fields such as engineering, manufacturing, biotechnology, and materials science. RSM (Response Surface Methodology), on the other hand, is an effective tool for experimental design and process optimization, particularly in multivariable systems. Ongoing research enhances its modeling capabilities and expands its applications in various fields, such as food technology, environmental management, manufacturing, chemistry, and energy systems. Its adaptability and efficiency make it a preferred choice for optimizing processes and products.
