Abstract: One of the most significant forming techniques, among others, is the extrusion method. This is because of its high productivity, cost-effectiveness, and strong capacity to improve the mechanical and physical properties of extruded materials. Usually, there are variables that affect the extrusion process, especially the die angle and the reduction ratio, amongst others, considerably influence the mechanical properties of an extruded product. Hence, varying these processing factors will definitely affect the qualities of extruded products. In the extrusion of Al-Zn-Mg alloy, these factors are found to affect properties, e.g., hardness as well as the tensile strength of the alloy. The increase in the reduction ratio often results to microstructure refinement, thereby leading to improved strength and hardness, while increasing the die angle increases the extrusion pressure and hardness. This paper deals with a comprehensive literature review of the impact of the processing factors, during the extrusion of Al-Zn-Mg alloy, with a focus on the reduction ratio and the die angle.
