Abstract: This lightning talk presents a personal tale of growth and the acquisition of meaningful skills and insights through open science and open-source software tools — a journey that began with PsychoPy, expanded into DIY electronics, and continues to evolve. The presentation highlights how open-source platforms empower individuals to actively construct knowledge and unlock a wide range of personal and intellectual benefits. It concludes with a brief theoretical reflection, showing why such active engagement naturally fosters deeper learning, greater autonomy, and a sense of freedom.
