Comparative Efficacy of Pre and Post Emergence Herbicides for Weed Control in Wheat Crop
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the comparative efficacy of pre- and post-emergence herbicides on weed control and grain yield of wheat. For this purpose, efficacy of Iodosulfuron+Mesosulfuron 6WG, Pendimethaline 33 EC, Metribuzin 70 WP, Pendimethaline+Metribuzin, and Pendimethaline followed by Iodosulfuron+Mesosulfuron , and untreated control was studied in sprayable form applications against weed control in wheat crop at their recommended doses. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. Among the tested chemicals significant differences in weed control and in yield across treatments was observed. The treatment Pendimethaline FB Iodosulfuron+Mesosulfuron recorded the maximum yield (4783.33 kg ha⁻¹), followed by Pendimethaline (4656.67 kg ha⁻¹) and Iodosulfuron+Mesosulfuron (4519.67 kg ha⁻¹), while the control treatment had the lowest yield (3664.33 kg ha⁻¹). The findings highlight the potential of integrated herbicide application strategies in improving wheat productivity.
