Mott Physics from the Scalar Temporal Field Ontology

Abstract: This work provides a full condensed-matter derivation of Mott physics from the Scalar Temporal Field Ontology (STFO), a framework in which time is modeled as a dynamical scalar field τ(xμ)\tau(x^\mu)τ(xμ) whose gradient defines causal structure and disformally dresses matter geometry. When lattice electrons couple through Lint=−γτJμ∂μτ\mathcal{L}_{\rm int} = -\gamma_\tau J^\mu \partial_\mu \tauLint=−γτJμ∂μτ, temporal fluctuations generate (i) Peierls-type suppression of coherent hopping, teff=t0 A−1/2exp[−γτ2Var(Δτ)/2]t_{\rm eff} = t_0\,A^{-1/2}\exp[-\gamma_\tau^2 \mathrm{Var}(\Delta\tau)/2]teff=t0A−1/2exp[−γτ2Var(Δτ)/2], and (ii) a short-range repulsive correction to on-site interactions, δUτ∼γτ2 ∫d3k (k2/(k2+mτ2))∼0.04–0.1 eV\delta U_\tau \sim \gamma_\tau^2 \!\int d^3k\,(k^2/(k^2 + m_\tau^2)) \sim 0.04\text{–}0.1\ \mathrm{eV}δUτ∼γτ2∫d3k(k2/(k2+mτ2))∼0.04–0.1 eV. Both effects increase Ueff/WeffU_{\rm eff}/W_{\rm eff}Ueff/Weff and can drive the Hubbard model across the Mott transition. We provide explicit derivations, parameter estimates, and propose spectroscopic signatures, including bandwidth narrowing and Drude suppression. This note is intended as a rigorous and self-contained supplement to the broader STFO program.
