Abstract: Arecanut cultivation plays a pivotal role in the agrarian economy of Shivamogga district, Karnataka, contributing over 70 percent of the district’s agricultural income and providing substantial rural employment. The district’s favourable agro-climatic conditions, fertile soils, and efficient land-use practices have positioned it as a major hub of arecanut production in India. This study aims to analyze the impact of land use patterns on the productivity of arecanut in Shivamogga district. The findings highlight that efficient land management and optimal fertilizer application are critical to improving arecanut productivity in Shivamogga. The study underscores the importance of adopting sustainable land use practices and scientific resource management to ensure long-term growth and economic stability in the arecanut sector.
