Frank Sinatra and the Netherlands
Year: 2025
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: In 1975, the impossible finally came true: Frank Sinatra performed his very first concert in the Netherlands. Fifty years later, this book retraces the long road that brought the world's greatest entertainer to Dutch soil—and explores the lasting bond between Sinatra and the Netherlands. This is both a vivid portrait of Sinatra and a cultural history of postwar Holland. With warmth and insight, the authors reveal Sinatra in all his complexity: his charm and quirks, his friendships with fellow legends, and his stormy battles with the press. Most of all, the book uncovers how Sinatra's presence left an indelible mark on the Netherlands—not only through the five unforgettable concerts he gave, but in the way "Sinatra" echoed through Dutch culture for decades.
