Abstract: Waste management, compatibly with sustainable management of resources must be set according to a hierarchical order of priority which sees landfill as the last option.However, the landfill represents an essential form of management that can not be eliminated for certain waste streams. The landfill plants must be built by following specific requirements based on the use of best available techniques (BAT), and conducted with best management practices (BMP). The landfill Ecofer for the disposal of car-fluff meets all the requirements set out above: from the design of the lots until the adoption of a monitoring plan in line with the most advanced guidelines.This report outlines the management techniques used by the landfill to minimize the environmental impacts and consider further innovative features.
