Candidate Meta-Law: Mutual Conditioning of Environment and Events
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This brief formulates a cross-disciplinary regularity observed in complex dynamic systems: the mutual conditioning of environment and events. The environment determines the range and probabilities of possible events, while each event modifies the environment in which subsequent events unfold. This bidirectional structure appears across non-equilibrium physical processes, chemical and biological evolution, ecological systems, cognitive and agent-based dynamics, social institutions, and AI learning loops. Although the pattern is universal, irreducible, and not in conflict with existing theories, it does not yet constitute a formal law. It is therefore proposed as a candidate meta-law—a law-like structure that organizes multiple mechanisms across domains without reducing to any of them.
