Psychological Manipulation and Democratic Erosion: A Quantitative Analysis of Media Effects, Algorithmic Influence, and Cognitive Bias in Contemporary American Federalism
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This interdisciplinary working paper examines the degradation of Madisonian federalist principles through contemporary psychological manipulation and digital technologies. Using empirical data from Pew Research Center (n>25,000 data points), neuroscience literature, and historical political analysis, this study quantifies political polarization, echo chambers, and cognitive biases undermining deliberative democratic processes. The analysis investigates the Hostile Media Effect, algorithmic content curation, and leadership dynamics, proposing evidence-based interventions including state-level policy innovation, participatory budgeting mechanisms, and digital rights frameworks. This work advocates for renewed application of civil libertarian principles to address partisan tribalism and restore functional bipartisan governance.
