Abstract: Layered materials possess uniqueband structures and physical properties thatdistinguish them from three-dimensionalmaterials, attracting widespread researchinterest over the past decades. These distinctivefeatures arise from the strong intralayer atomicbonding and relatively weak interlayerinteractions. Therefore, tuning the atom types, intralayer structures, the interlayer interactions,or even stacking different types of materialscan fundamentally change the macroscopicphysical properties of the system. This thesis focuses on the electronic structureproperties of two representative classes oflayered materials: transition metaldichalcogenides (TMDs) and two dimensionalperovskites. Using angle-resolvedphotoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and itstime-resolved extension (tr-ARPES), incombination with electron diffraction, Ramanspectroscopy, and transient reflectivitymeasurements, we systematically investigatecomplex electronic many body effects, chiralsuperlattice switching, and electron phononcoupling phenomena in these materials
