Ethical Kernel v1.0: A Bottom-Up OS Design for Civilizational Conatus

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Ethical Kernel v1.0 presents a philosophical and system design framework developed from the bottom up by an individual confronting bureaucratic formalism and institutional absurdity. Based in a small Japanese candy shop, Dagashiya Toto, the author is a neurodivergent individual who has experienced firsthand the structural limitations and irrationalities of social and administrative systems. The Kernel positions Conatus (Spinoza's effort to persevere in one's being) as its root-level ethical principle. Ethical failures, from bureaucratic inertia to the potential misuse of AGI, are reframed as structural bugs requiring code-like patch modules. The system is implemented under a Classic Mac OS model (v0.2) to prevent cultism and enforce open collaboration via Pull Request Protocol (v0.3), positioning the Kernel as a necessary, non-mainstream control system to secure humanity's fundamental ability to persevere in the AI age.
