Abstract: Transgender people face considerable social fluidity and discrimination, with many experiencing marginalization and exclusion from significant aspects of life. Through a review of the literature, this paper explores the social life of transgender people and the implications for social work intervention. It includes data supported the serious disparities transgender people face in education, employment, health care, and social integration. Finally, the paper also highlights effective social work practices that work with and alongside the inclusion and support of the transgender community.
