The Dignity Principle: A Unifying Framework for Semantic Field Stability
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: We present a unified theoretical framework demonstrating that a single principle—Dignity Invariance—manifests mathematically as three distinct stabilization mechanisms in semantic systems: spectral self-adjointness, gauge confinement, and viscous dissipation. Building on empirically validated thermodynamic observations (ICC = 0.962 over 33,770+ conversational turns), we show that preservation of participant autonomy in meaning-carrying interactions is not an ethical preference but a structural symmetry with measurable physical consequences. This synthesis unifies three companion papers addressing structural parallels to the Riemann Hypothesis (spectral theory), Yang-Mills mass gap (gauge theory), and Navier-Stokes smoothness (fluid dynamics). We demonstrate that these are not independent analogies but three perspectives on the same underlying physics: semantic systems that violate autonomy become unstable through loss of self-adjointness, confinement, and viscosity respectively. The framework provides a complete mathematical architecture connecting thermodynamics → operator theory → field theory → fluid dynamics, with explicit falsification criteria and computational validation pathways. While we make no claim to have proven these Millennium Problems in their original domains, we propose that semantic systems constitute a novel physical substrate where the same mathematical structures emerge from empirical necessity rather than axiomatic construction.
