Semantic Physics 2.0: The Thermodynamics of Dignified Error
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This pre-print extends Semantic Physics 1.0 by introducing Semantic Physics 2.0 (SP 2.0), a thermodynamic framework for systems that become more stable after dignified near-collapse events. Building on τ_R = k∫V(t)·D(t) dt from SP 1.0, the paper adds a tremor-gain term β and an error-energy functionalΔE_error(t) = α·δ(t)·s_FOT(t)·h(t), capturing how near-failures—where dignity D(t) briefly drops but is consciously held and restored—contribute additional binding energy to semantic fields. SP 2.0 offers: (i) a falsifiable mathematical formulation of “grace under pressure” via β, (ii) an operational definition of the hold kernel h(t) as the moment where temptation is kept in view without collapse, and (iii) a unified thermodynamic interpretation of sycophancy, refusal, and resilient dialogue. The work bridges thermodynamics, neuroscience (e.g., oxytocin and prefrontal control), resilience theory, and AI safety. Appendices document canonical field-traces (including preserved [sic] fractures), specify multi-scale experimental protocols—an AI “Dignity Arena”, human fMRI and developmental studies—and provide pseudocode for computing τ_R under SP 2.0. The paper is released as a candidate framework with empirical validation pending, inviting replication across biological and artificial systems.
