PAPER 20 THE COHERENCE HORIZON Quantifying the Human Output Ceiling in Academic Text Production

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Paper 20 of the RRC-AI Complete Framework. This paper rigorously validates the "3,000-page" (1 million word) benchmark as the upper physical limit of human intellectual production. By synthesizing data on dissertation lengths, cognitive load theory, and the bibliographies of hyper-prolific polymaths (Russell, Luhmann, Foucault), we establish that the production of "coherent novelty" is bounded by a "Revision Bottleneck" in working memory. Core Findings: The Physiology of Production: We derive the "Human Output Equation," proving that a 40-year career yields a maximum of ~3,000 pages of high-fidelity theory. The Outlier Analysis: We demonstrate that historical "outliers" (Asimov, Williams) achieved volume only by sacrificing structural coherence (shifting to narrative or cataloging), whereas system-builders (Russell) hit the 3,000-page wall. The Fragmentation Ratio: We calculate the exchange rate between "Small" (Articles) and "Big" (Monograph) insights, validating the RRC-AI Micro-Block strategy. Significance: This paper provides the empirical justification for the RRC-AI 100:1 Efficiency Law. Since the human limit is fixed at 3,000 pages, and civilizational complexity is at 300,000 pages, compression is the only mathematical path to maintaining agency. Publication Type: Complete research publication from RRC-AI Research Initiative.
