Abstract: Zusammenfassung This article explores the literary work of Friederike Brun, with a focus on her writing as a means of processing and structuring overwhelming sensory and imaginative experiences gathered through reading, travel, and encounters with art. Drawing on close textual analysis and a contextualization within the reading culture around 1800, it argues that Brun’s poetic prose emerges from the dynamic interplay between emotional immersion and intellectual control. Writing serves both as an artistic practice and as a mode of self-regulation, transforming fleeting impressions into communicable form and bridging the realms of imagination, reason, and artistic mediation.
