Abstract: Purpose. This study aims to explore the psychological features of the relationship between women’s eating-behavior indicators and their coping strategies, emphasizing how different coping patterns correspond to adaptive or maladaptive eating responses. Methods. The study used the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ), the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q), and the «Scale for Studying Coping Behavior in Dangerous Situations». The sample included 83 women aged 21–55 years (median = 40; mean = 39.89; SD = 8.44). Some participants lived in Ukraine, while others were temporarily abroad due to the war. Correlation analysis was applied to identify associations between coping patterns and eating-behavior indicators. Results. The strategy «Rejection and Dissociation» showed positive correlations with several eating-behavior indicators, including external and restrained eating, eating concern, and binge-eating frequency. This pattern suggests a link between emotional avoidance and less stable eating self-regulation. In contrast, acceptance-based strategies («Acceptance and Active Struggle», «Acceptance and Passive Optimism») demonstrated negative associations with external eating and binge-eating frequency, indicating a connection with more balanced eating self-regulation. Other coping patterns did not show statistically significant relationships with eating-behavior measures. Conclusions. The study revealed meaningful associations between women’s coping patterns and their eating-behavior indicators. Emotional avoidance was linked to less stable eating self-regulation, whereas acceptance-based patterns were associated with more balanced eating responses. These findings broaden understanding of the mechanisms connecting coping and eating behavior in women and outline directions for further research and practical applications.
