The TRIM Concept in Educational Therapy: Definitions, Differences and Similarities
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: There are four key terms, i.e., treatment, rehabilitation, intervention and management (TRIM), which constitute the concept of therapeutic services that are closely related yet distinct in Educational Therapy (EdTx). The field of EdTx, though established much earlier in 1978-79 in the United States, was officially endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1986 under the Procedure Code 93.82 published in its 9th edition of the International Classification of Diseases with clinical modification (ICD-9-CM). Understanding the meanings, functions, and timing of the TRIM concept helps clarify how educational therapists design individualized support plans for school-age children and adolescents with learning, behavioral, or developmental challenges.
