A review of findings from neuroscience and cognitive psychology as possible inspiration for the path to artificial general intelligence
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper examines how insights from neuroscience and cognitive psychology can inform the development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). It highlights neural mechanisms such as plasticity, predictive coding, and global integration, alongside cognitive functions like working memory, attention, and metacognition. The study argues that AGI should combine biological adaptability with cognitive intentionality through hybrid and embodied architecture. Integrating these interdisciplinary principles can guide the creation of self-regulating, context-aware, and ethically aligned intelligent systems.
