Significant Increase in Esodeviation Following Cycloplegia in Accommodative Esotropia

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Cycloplegia is crucial for diagnosing and managing esotropia and hypermetropia. By relaxing accommodation, it allows for an accurate measurement of hypermetropia. This report highlights a rare case of significantly increased esodeviation following cycloplegia with 1% cyclopentolate and 1% tropicamide in a child with refractive accommodative esotropia. In addition, it emphasizes the importance of using strong cycloplegic agents such as atropine to fully relax accommodation in such conditions.
