Accident Prevention of Vehicles and Passenger Safety
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Vehicle crashworthiness and occupant protection are critical components in automotive safety engineering, aimed at minimizing injuries and fatalities during collisions. Crash worthiness refers to a vehicle’s structural ability to absorb and dissipate crash energy, thereby preserving the integrity of the occupant compartment. Occupant protection encompasses systems such as seat belts, airbags, and restraint mechanisms designed to reduce the biomechanical loads on the human body during impact. This study reviews the principles of crash energy management, deformation behavior of vehicle structures, and the effectiveness of active and passive safety systems. The potential of advanced materials, computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations, and crash test techniques (such as NCAP and IIHS) to improve vehicle safety performance is investigated. In order to satisfy changing safety regulations and customer expectations, greater emphasis is placed on the integration of occupant protection technology and structural design. The results show that in order to provide the best protection possible in a variety of crash situations, vehicle safety development must take a comprehensive, systems-level approach.
