Abstract: The family is the main socialization agents responsible for upbringing, education, and carefrom the earliest stages of life. Therefore, it plays a key role in the prevention of addictions.Family prevention programs are interventions that aim to prevent risky behaviors and substanceuse among minors by targeting the family. This study aims to identify current familyprevention programs for addiction, analyze their key characteristics, and assess the efficacyof the evaluated programs. Following the PRISMA statement, a systematic bibliographicsearch was conducted in the following databases: Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE,Scopus, and Cochrane Library. Through this search, 971 studies were initially identified, ofwhich 46 were selected. A total of 32 family prevention programs were identified. Of theseprograms, only 22 (68.75%) have studies that evaluate their efficacy and 12 of them areindexed in best practice portals. Based on their efficacy, the recommended programs areEFFEKT, Familias Unidas, Guiding Good Choices (GGC), Strengthening Families Program10–14, and Strong African American Families Program (SAAF). Most of the identifiedprevention programs are of a universal prevention nature (34%), followed by indicatedprevention (34%) and selective prevention (13%). Programs that have undergone evaluationfor efficacy are shown to be more effective. These programs tend to focus on parentingskills, substance knowledge, and family communication componen
