Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most innovative technological fields, with growing applications in healthcare.Acceptance of AI by nursing students is critical for its future integration into nursing practice. This study aimed to explore nursing students' attitudes toward AI and their relationship with personality traits.A quantitative study was conducted using the GAAIS questionnaire (measuring attitudes toward AI), the TIPI scale (assessing the Big Five personality traits), and the SD3 scale (measuring the "Dark Triad" personality traits). The sample consisted of 159 nursing students from the University of Thessaly, aged between 18 and 52 years.Factor analysis confirmed the dual structure of the GAAIS, with positive and negative attitudes explaining 35.65% of the variance.Findings revealed that openness to experience (r = 0.17, p = 0.01) and emotional stability (r = 0.13, p = 0.04) were positively associated with positive attitudes toward AI, while Machiavellianism was negatively associated (r = -0.201,p = 0.006).Statistically significant findings in relation to attitudes toward AI were also concerning years of studies (ρ = 0.16, p = 0.04), place of origin, living conditions, employment, sexual orientation, and social media use (p < 0.05).The results highlight that attitudes toward AI are influenced by complex psychological and sociodemographic factors.Targeted educational programs considering personality traits and social parameters are recommended to enhance AI acceptance and effective utilization in nursing.
