The impact of intergroup meta-perceptions on believing and sharing false information
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: The project investigates whether overestimated meta-perceptions (i.e., inferences that other groups have more hostile attitudes and intentions towards the ingroup than they do in reality) elicit vulnerability to misinformation in contexts involving inter-group social and political discord. The project further explores the socio-cognitive processes underlying this vulnerability and new interventions to reduce misinformation stemming from biased inter-group meta-perceptions.
