Abstract: This study analyzed the relationship between digestive enzyme activity and growth in Marsupenaeus japonicus larvae across four developmental stages: early zoea (5 DAH), late zoea (10 DAH), early mysis (15 DAH), and late mysis (25 DAH).Protease, amylase, and lipase activities were measured alongside changes in body weight and total length.Enzyme patterns showed clear correlations with larval development.Protease activity remained consistently high and increased with growth, suggesting a key role in protein digestion.Amylase activity increased up to 10 DAH, followed by a transient decline at 15 DAH, coinciding with a dietary shift from formulated feed to a mix including live Artemia and a corresponding slowdown in growth.Lipase activity increased steadily, reflecting greater lipid utilization during development. These enzyme fluctuations aligned with feeding transitions and physiological changes such as organ development and metamorphosis.Consistent water quality and feeding practices supported stable enzyme expression and healthy growth.Small sample sizes (10 larvae) enabled effective detection of enzymatic changes without disrupting hatchery operations. These findings demonstrate that digestive enzyme profiles are practical indicators of growth and nutritional adaptation and can support improved feeding protocols and sustainable larval rearing in shrimp aquaculture.
