Abstract: The purpose of this study is to add to the understanding of the relationship between schizotypy and loneliness, with a focus on the general relationship and an analysis of specific subscales and sub-types of each. We will investigate the contribution of schizotypy as measured by the Oxford-Liverpool Inventory of Feelings and Experiences across four different subscales - Unusual Experiences, Cognitive Disorganisation, Introvertive Anhedonia and Impulsive Non-conformity - toward feelings of direct loneliness as well as social, emotional and existential loneliness. Existing research demonstrates a link between schizotypy and loneliness, and the nature of the relationship between the different types of schizotypy on overall loneliness, but the specific relationships between sub-types of schizotypy and different types of loneliness are less well understood. As such this study aims to explore the relationship between the sub-factors of schizotypy and direct, social, emotional and existential loneliness.
