Abstract: Modal Analysis is a key technology in structural dynamics testing and has become a "standard" approach for product development of mechanical systems. However, performing Modal Analysis is a time-consuming process and often requires highly expert engineers, especially for complex structures (such as cars, airplanes, wind turbines, …). This thesis aims to develop an expert-level Automated Modal Analysis technique using advanced computational Machine Learning algorithms. At a second stage, it focuses on the application of the Automated Modal Analysis technique for detecting and localizing structural damages, under the context of Structural Health Monitoring.
