The 4D Framework for AI Fluency

Abstract: AI fluency requires not just tool-level literacy but a broader and deeper comprehension of AI-human collaboration. The 4D Framework for AI Fluency describes four core competency areas of Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence, that can inform the design of learning experiences, assessable outcomes, and AI-integrated curricula. The 4D Framework has already served as the foundation of five different courses at Ringling College of Art and Design and Cork University Business School, (University College Cork), Ireland. This presentation introduces the framework and shares its applications at the curriculum, course, and individual student learning levels.
