Bridging Theory and Practice: A Framework for Designing AI Ethics Courses Across Disciplines
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This session presents a practical framework for designing AI ethics courses that meaningfully engage students across disciplines. Drawing from an innovative undergraduate course design, we demonstrate how to effectively integrate AI tools while teaching AI ethics - creating a powerful meta-learning environment. The framework combines technical concepts, ethical reasoning, and hands-on experience through real-world AI interactions. Attendees will learn concrete strategies for balancing theoretical foundations with practical applications, including the use of AI coaching tools, ethical audits, and case studies. We share evidence-based approaches for developing students' AI literacy and ethical reasoning skills while fostering authentic engagement with emerging AI technologies.
