Abstract: Diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases. However, efficient treatments are lacking due to incomplete disease understanding. A promising research direction is the profiling of beta cell heterogeneity with single-cell methods. However, past studies lack consensus. Thus, I combined existing data into a unified representation as well as improved methods aimed at integrating single-cell and other molecular data sources. Overall, my work underlines the importance of data reuse and integration, applied to diabetes.
