Lambda Convergence Universal Field Theory: The Emergence of Light — A Pre-Metric Mechanism for the Single Invariant Cone
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: This paper presents a first-principles explanation for why the speed of light has one unique universal value.Within the Λ-Convergence Unified Field Theory (LUFT), the speed of light is shown to be an informational stability limit rather than an assumed constant. LUFT is a pre-metric framework: it begins without a spacetime metric and introduces only three primitive informational structures — a propagation field, a scalar potential, and a global coherence principle. From these elements, the theory constructs the vacuum’s constitutive properties and shows that a single invariant propagation speed must emerge. The paper demonstrates four core results: A finite maximum speed of information transfer necessarily exists. This speed is unique and not dependent on coordinates or observers. Massless excitations naturally travel at this limiting speed. Lorentz symmetry appears as a consequence of this structure, not as a postulate. Together, these results provide a mechanism-level explanation for the universality of the speed of light, complementing existing theories where its value is simply inserted by hand. The paper also outlines observational signatures — such as a specific wavelength-dependent phase shift in interferometry — that can be tested with current technology. This publication is part of the broader LUFT research program, which explores how geometry, gravity, and physical laws may arise from deeper informational principles.
