Theorem of Temporal Resolution Limitation and the Phase Coordination Principle

Abstract: This work establishes a fundamental limit on event coordination in distributed systems. We prove that without continuous physical clock coupling, the timing uncertainty between independent nodes grows without bound, making long-term nanosecond synchronization impossible (Theorem 1). To solve this, we introduce the Phase-Coordination Principle. It replaces failed absolute time targets with a shared, deterministic temporal phase coordinate, enabling bounded, reliable coordination by triggering actions within predefined phase windows (Theorem 2). This theoretical foundation enables deterministic protocols for distributed quantum computing, sensor networks, and aligned AI systems without relying on vulnerable external timing signals.
