Distribution of hand fractures : Our experience in handling such a heterogeneous entity
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Fractures of the metacarpals and phalanges are the most common fractures of the upper extremity, they come in the second place after the distal radius fracture, with a reported incidence of 3.7 per 1000 per year for men and 1.3 per 1000 per year for women, and the vast majority occurring between the ages of 11 and 45 years [1]. Treatment of such fractures aims to restore the hand’s grip and avoid major functional complications, including stiffness and deformity. The aim of our work is to review hand fractures by presenting their distribution, types and mechanisms, seasonal variations as well as therapeutic aspects, and to compare them in the light of literature with other series.
