The Resurrection Imperative: Christianity's Revival as a Civilizational Survival Strategy in Contemporary Europe

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper examines the demographic and cultural crisis facing contemporary European civilization, analyzing the relationship between religious vitality, cultural cohesion, and civilizational survival. Through sociological analysis of competing value systems, demographic projections, and historical precedent, this study argues that the revival of Christianity represents not merely a religious preference but a pragmatic necessity for Western European cultural continuity. The research explores the mechanisms by which 'liquid modernity' creates civilizational vulnerability, contrasts this with the resilience of 'solid' traditional cultures, and proposes Christianity's renewal as a comprehensive response to existential demographic and cultural challenges. Drawing from demographic data, sociological theory, and historical patterns of civilizational succession, this paper presents Christianity's revival as the most viable framework for restoring cultural confidence, demographic vitality, and institutional strength necessary for European civilization's survival in the 21st century and beyond.
