Abstract: Mark Twain is one of the most important figures in American literature, and his work occupies an indispensable place in the literature of his people. Twain depicted American society, especially the life of people living on the banks of the Mississippi River, in a realistic and satirical style in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His works are also considered a turning point in the development of American literature. Twain played an important role in the development of realism in American literature. The accurate and detailed description of life in his works, the use of regional dialogues, and the realistic reflection of everyday life served as a model for other writers. In particular, the work “Huckleberry Finn” is an important example that realistically presents the social and cultural characteristics of American society. Twain’s work plays the role of social and moral criticism in the literature of his people. His works present slavery, racism, discrimination, and the double standards of society in an ironic and satirical manner. This has had a significant impact not only on literature, but also on the formation of social thought.
