Universal Horizon Thermodynamics: Unifying Cosmic Acceleration and Black Hole Remnants via Boundary Geometry

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: We establish a thermodynamic duality between the largest and smallest scales of gravity, linking the infrared dynamics of cosmic acceleration with the ultraviolet stability of black hole remnants. Within the boundary-geometry framework, we demonstrate that a single geometric parameter—the boundary tension —acts as a universal thermodynamic potential governing the evolution of spacetime horizons. By applying the generalized First Law of Thermodynamics to the apparent horizon, we show that drives the system toward equilibrium in two distinct regimes. In the infrared limit, the boundary work generates an effective repulsive pressure, driving the Universe toward a maximum-entropy de Sitter state with asymptotic expansion . In the ultraviolet limit, the renormalization of creates a thermal floor, preventing total evaporation and stabilizing black holes as Planck-mass remnants. This unification suggests that the "Heat Death" of the Universe and the formation of stable remnants are complementary manifestations of a single relaxation process toward a geometric boundary equilibrium, resolving the zero-temperature paradoxes at both cosmological and microscopic scales.
