Abstract: Rural libraries play a crucial role in promoting literacy, education, and cultural awareness in rural communities. By providing access to books, periodicals, and educational materials, these libraries make a significant contribution to the intellectual development of local communities. However, it is essential to evaluate their effectiveness in addressing the specific needs of users and the surrounding communities. Consequently, this research study has been conducted to examine the operations of these libraries. The objective is to gain a comprehensive understanding of various aspects, including administration, available resources, accessibility, funding, user needs, community involvement, and innovative practices. This report summarises the preliminary findings from research conducted in ten Gram Panchayath libraries located in Kampli Taluk, Ballari District.
