Abstract: On Sept. 29, 2025, the First Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily paused an injunction that halted the U.S. Department of Education's planned staff reductions in its Office for Civil Rights. The injunction, issued by U.S. District Judge Myong Joun, required reinstatement of civil rights staff whom the Education Department intended to lay off.
