Heat-resistant foam concrete with radiation-shielding properties

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: In the context of the development of nuclear power engineering, there is an increasing demand for next-generation building materials capable of simultaneously providing thermal and radiation protection while maintaining reduced weight and improved performance characteristics. This study is devoted to the development of a synthesis methodology for heat-resistant foam concrete that combines radiation-shielding and thermophysical properties, intended for use in enclosure and technological structures of nuclear power facilities. It is demonstrated that the combination of functionalized foam with heavy fillers and water-containing components can ensure attenuation of γ- and neutron radiation while simultaneously reducing the thermal conductivity and density of the material.
